Hello! And welcome to our YES Leadership Program page. My name is Anuja, and I am one of the coordinators of this program (although I was also a participant when I was 13 years old, and volunteered at Meadowbrook CC). I have been coordinating the YES program year-round since 2009. Before this job, I was working at a local TV news station, helping put live TV on air! When I’m not working, I like to make and edit short documentaries, and I am very passionate about being in the outdoors when it’s “nice” outside – camping, hiking, playing tennis, badminton, snowboarding, and traveling everywhere outside of the state and outside of America.

Proudly born and raised in Seattle, WA, I graduated from Garfield High School in 2008. I aspire to teach technical skills as well as personal developmental skills such as self-empowerment job readiness preparation to high school students. I started as an AmeriCorps volunteer in the summer of 2011 and continued a 11 month term soon after. As program coordinator of The Able Teens (TAT) I trained and coached work study students and high school teens job readiness skills such as resume building as well as vocational training. I have also worked with the YES Multi-Media team, the Teens Against Tobacco Use (TATU) group its been an amazing experience so far!

I’ve had the privilege of working with Seattle Parks & Recreation for a year now, but I have enjoyed working with children and teens for several years in various places including with church youth groups, the Boys & Girls Club, Sunset Lake Summer Camp, summer schools, a K-8 academy, a high school class room, and childcare programs. In my free time I love being outside; hiking, climbing, camping, anything to do with water, and most recently snowboarding. I also love to make things with my hands – sewing, knitting, and cooking. I really enjoy working with the youth in the YES program and am excited for them to continue learning on the job!
