About Summer of Service (S.O.S.)
Summer of Service (S.O.S.) is for teens entering 7th, 8th or 9th grades in the fall. The teens are formed into teams where they make a difference in the community. Through the program the students gain new leadership, greatly improve their work skills, and develop new friendships.
Summer of Service runs for six weeks, this summer that means July 11th through August 19th. The teens work alongside team leaders four days a week, either Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday. These days are determined by the site the teens are placed on.
Project sites and workshops take place all throughout the city. A convienient meeting location is designated by the team (ie at a communtiy center, school, bus station, etc.). SOS participants are responsible for getting to and from meeting location. Bus tokens and/or van pools will be made avaliable.
This is a great opportunity to build your resume and improve your college application, meet new friends, learn more about your community, do something fun and productive during the summer, and earn $150 at the completion of the program
If you have any questions or would like more information about the program please feel free to contact our office at (206) 684-4575 or email Ron Mirabueno at [email protected]
